Winter Maintenance Management System (WMMS) or Snow Removal Management Systems (SRMS), can give transportation agencies significant benefits. The purpose of this webinar is to give participants a review of GIS-based SRMS, including what different types of systems do and how such systems help agencies improve operational and cost efficiencies, as well as benefits in safety and reduced salt in the environment.
Key components to be covered:
• System definition and typical application functions
• Key systems components and alternatives
• Key data requirements
• Key application issues
• Best practices
• A review of competitive offerings
• How applications integrate with/ link to other wider agency technology, databases and GIS
• Rules of thumb for successful system implementation
• Expected results and benefits
• A quick example of at least one typical software package
As with all management systems, it is emphasized that software and technology alone is not the full solution, but needs to be part of a matrix that combines people, data and business processes aligned and working together.
This webinar is a preview to a workshop being offered at the 2015 GIS-T Symposium in Des Moines, Iowa.
