ACCESSABILITY MEASUREMENT MADE EASY WITH SUGAR ACCESS
Accessibility has become an increasingly popular topic and metric moving forward in transportation planning. Metrics such as access to jobs and accessibility scores for walking have become a popular way to determine how well our transportation systems are delivering people to their desired destinations. In fact, they are even used in real estate for gauging desirability of a property. This presentation highlights a new easy to use tool which allows planners to conduct accessibility analysis using a prepackaged and integrated data source. Sugar Access, an ArcGIS add-in, allows planners to understand the public’s ability to walk or bike to their daily errands, analyze the benefits of bike infrastructure improvements, and compute the increased accessibility resulting from simple transit improvements. Model and compare future scenarios and integrate with ArcGIS Online to easily share the benefits of a project with stakeholders.
